Quatre Chants pour franchir le seuil are a sort of musical meditation on the death of an angel, of civilization, of the voice, and of humanity. Four songs for four distinct eras: Christian, Egyptian, Greek, and Mesopotamian civilizations.

Barbara HanniganIn this final work, Grisey rethinks the melodic and vocal dimensions of music, a study interrupted by his untimely disappearance.

Grisey's aura can still be felt in the works of younger composers, as can be seen in this evening's concert. Tonight, it is Yann Robin's turn to cross the threshold as he presents the final piece of his series, Art of métal upon completion of the Cursus 2 program; a piece that unites instrumental sounds, the musician's voice, and electronics.
